The Valory Music Co. Signs Thomas Rhett

November 2, 2011

The Valory Music Co. is proud to announce today the signing of Thomas Rhett to its label roster. The signing puts Thomas Rhett on the same label as Reba, Justin Moore and Brantley Gilbert.

The Georgia native grew up in a musical family where he was exposed at an early age to the career of his singer/songwriter father, Rhett Akins. In high school, Thomas Rhett dabbled in songwriting and played the guitar before forming a band with some friends. In 2010, while still a student at Lipscomb University in Nashville, Thomas Rhett signed his first publishing deal with EMI. Shortly thereafter he landed his first cut on Jason Aldean’s platinum-selling album MY KINDA PARTY with the song “I Ain’t Ready To Quit.”

Driven by his faith, passion for music and the support of his family and friends, Thomas Rhett is excited about his first record deal. “I honestly can't believe all of this is finally here! I am so pumped to be working with The Valory Music Company!” exclaimed Thomas Rhett upon his signing. “There is no doubt in my mind that Scott Borchetta and his staff are the most caring, family-oriented, hardest working team in the business. It truly is an honor to be labelmates with Brantley, Justin and Reba.”

"The first time I saw Thomas perform I couldn't believe my ears and eyes," said Scott Borchetta, President and CEO of the Big Machine Label Group. "The label was on a self-imposed break from any new signings so I went into our initial meeting with no intention of signing an artist that day. Well, three songs into his acoustic set I said something along the lines of 'I'd like you to make records here'. Our VP of A&R, Allison Jones, looked at me in disbelief, as she was following my orders to stand down on any new signings. After her jaw hit the desk, we both had a good laugh and then convinced Thomas he needed to be with us! His album is going to be great. The songs are great - it's all just right there. 2012 is going to be very fun."
Thomas Rhett is currently working on his debut album and is playing select support dates on labelmate Brantley Gilbert’s fall headlining tour. He has previously opened for artists such as Blake Shelton, ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Pat Green, David Nail and The Dirt Drifters.
