A Trifecta of Sold-Out Shows for Country Superstar Martina McBride

    May 15, 2012 0 Comments

Country Superstar Martina McBride made a Midwest trek over the weekend as part of her One Night theater tour and sold out all three shows. The powerhouse vocalist shared stories, favorite songs and more with packed houses at the Shooting Star Casino (Mahnomen, MN); Surf Ballroom (Clearlake, IA) and Honeywell Center (Wabash, IN).

Wanting to share a special experience with her fans, McBride also took to Twitter for setlist ideas and giveaways, providing yet another way to connect. Just before the Wabash, IN show, McBride helped make a special moment for a mother and daughter, gifting them tickets to the concert.

McBride is not only helping create memories for the audience, but is experiencing them herself. “I love performing in places with history where you can almost hear musicians from the past. Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and The Big Bopper played their last show at The Surf Ballroom where we were on Saturday so I wanted to perform the Buddy Holly classic, "That'll Be The Day," said McBride. The show was over two hours long and earned her two encores.

Throughout most of the summer, she will engage with fans during the One Night tour, but on May 27, McBride will head to Indianapolis, IN to sing the national anthem at the 96th Indianapolis 500. A couple of weeks later, on June 10, she will headline the CMA Music Festival’s LP Field show in Nashville. Upcoming dates are listed below and the full schedule is available via www.martinamcbride.com.

BMLG Joins Forces with General Mills, Feeding America to Outnumber Hunger

    March 30, 2012 0 Comments

General Mills and Big Machine Label Group’s star-studded roster of Country music artists are teaming up with Feeding America to Outnumber Hunger in a national initiative that helps fight hunger in local communities. Outnumber Hunger will help Feeding America secure up to 15.6 million meals for local food banks to assist the one in six Americans who struggles with hunger.

According to the USDA, an estimated 49 million Americans struggle with hunger, making the issue a growing reality in every community. By simply entering codes at OutnumberHunger.com, Americans can make a difference in their local communities at a time when it matters most.

“Hunger is a year-round issue but it can be especially critical in the spring, so Feeding America food banks need help now,” said Vicki B. Escarra, President and CEO, Feeding America. “The combined reach that General Mills and Big Machine Label Group’s artists bring to the hunger crisis will help provide critical resources at this key time.”

This powerful group of partners is using its collective voice to rally Americans for the cause. Codes will appear on millions of specially-marked packages of General Mills products to give people the chance to help Feeding America secure five meals on behalf of their local food banks.

“As a leading food company, no cause is more important to us than the hunger issue,” said Cheryl Welch, Director, Outnumber Hunger at General Mills. “We’re thrilled to give people the chance to make a difference in their own communities through Outnumber Hunger.”

Specially-marked packages of General Mills products will feature an Outnumber Hunger code, as well as favorite Big Machine Label Group artists like Rascal Flatts. More than 10 General Mills brands, including Betty Crocker, Green Giant, Totino’s and Cheerios, will participate. Entering the code at OutnumberHunger.com helps Feeding America secure five meals on behalf of a local food bank. Participants enter their ZIP codes, and meals will stay in or near the area.

Big Machine Label Group artists also will offer select special codes on Facebook and Twitter that help Feeding America secure five meals for local food banks. Big Machine Label Group artists who are encouraging participation include Multi-Platinum-selling superstar artists Rascal Flatts, Reba, Martina McBride, and The Band Perry as well as established chart-topping acts Eli Young Band, Justin Moore, Brantley Gilbert and newcomers Sunny Sweeney, Edens Edge, Ella Mae Bowen and Thomas Rhett.

“It takes a Big Machine to Outnumber Hunger, and we have an opportunity to make a huge difference in local communities,” said Scott Borchetta, President and CEO, of Big Machine Label Group. “That’s why we’re thrilled to come together with our artists, General Mills and Feeding America to help the hunger issue in a significant way. Together we can Outnumber Hunger.”

Additionally, the Outnumber Hunger partners have created an educational video with Rascal Flatts that highlights the issue of hunger and shows how anyone can get involved to help Feeding America. It will air during a Rascal Flatts theater event in New York City and in over 600 movie theaters across the country on the night of April 5. Tickets to the movie theater concert event can be purchased online at RascalFlatts.com/Changed

“Our fans have always been strong supporters of us and our families,” said Joe Don Rooney, Rascal Flatts. “By being involved in Outnumber Hunger, we hope to provide that same support for those who may struggle with hunger. We’re grateful to have the chance to spread awareness of this important cause.”

General Mills will donate $0.65 to Feeding America—enough to help secure 5 meals on behalf of local food banks—for every code entered. To make a difference in your local community with Outnumber Hunger, visit www.OutnumberHunger.com.

Martina McBride and Train's Pat Monahan to Perform "Marry Me" at 47th Annual ACM Awards

    March 27, 2012 0 Comments

The Academy of Country Music announced today that Martina McBride, along with Train frontman Pat Monahan, is scheduled to perform her new single “Marry Me” on the 47th ANNUAL ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS. To celebrate the message of the song, McBride and Monahan will perform the duet during a very special moment in the show when a couple will get married live onstage. The show, which honors country music’s top talent as well as the industry’s hottest emerging artists, is produced for television by dick clark productions and will be broadcast LIVE from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas Sunday, April 1, 2012 at 8:00 PM live ET/delayed PT on the CBS Television Network.

For the first time in ACM Awards history –and perhaps any awards history– a live wedding ceremony will take place onstage during McBride and Monahan’s duet of “Marry Me,” McBride’s current single from her latest album Eleven. The song was coined by Grammy Award-winning artist Monahan and originally released in 2010 as the third single from Train’s chart-topping fifth studio album Save Me, San Francisco.

McBride personally selected the lucky recipients of the onstage nuptials. Couple Christina Davidson and Frank Tucci thought they would never find love again. In July of 2009, Frank lost his wife, Danielle to thyroid cancer and in that same year, Christina lost her husband, Paul, in a tragic drowning accident. As a way to deal with the grief of losing her husband and raising her two sons Stephen and Paul on her own, Christina started a support group for young widows and widowers in Washington Township, N.J. where she met Frank. Slowly their friendship blossomed into love as they bonded over their shared views about the challenges of single parenthood and the struggles to keep the memories of their spouses alive. Their wedding will mark a new chapter in their lives, an intimate moment which they will graciously share onstage. The bride will be wearing an Oleg Cassini gown as she recites her vows. Fans can also follow Christina and Frank along their journey to the chapel at www.ACMwedding.com.

"A Home for the Holidays with Martina McBride" to Broadcast on CBS Dec. 21st

    November 17, 2011 0 Comments

The 13th Annual A HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS WITH MARTINA McBRIDE, an entertainment special to be broadcast Wednesday, Dec. 21 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, will be hosted by country superstar entertainer Martina McBride. It will also include moving performances by country superstar entertainer McBride, pop/R&B superstar Justin Bieber, Grammy Award-winning singer Mary J. Blige, platinum recording artist Gavin DeGraw, rock group OneRepublic and singer/songwriter Christina Perri. Katherine Heigl, who adopted a child, her sister Meg Heigl-Beltran, who was adopted, and Denise Richards, who adopted a child, will be among the talent set to present.

Following the success of the past 12 annual shows, the special continues to tell touching stories about adoption from foster care to raise awareness for this important social issue. The inspirational stories of these American families are enhanced with performances by some of today's most popular artists.

Some of the musical performances accompany story segments which are introduced by celebrities who have their own adoption experiences or are involved with children's issues. The stories highlight exceptional American children and families involved in this rewarding process.

Henderson Family (Helena, Ala.) Richard and Melanie Henderson had been married 10 years when they were inspired to adopt after watching A HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS. “We loved raising our son Reed and wanted to have another child, but it just wasn’t happening,” says Melanie. “We called the show’s 800-number and received information from the Dave Thomas Foundation and Children's Action Network," says Richard. That fall, the Hendersons met 5-year-old Brittney, who had been placed in foster care due to neglect. Today Brittney is an outgoing 9-year-old and thriving in school. “I'm a Henderson now, and that means everything to me," says Brittney.

Kerin Family (Castle Rock, Colo.) When you meet the three Kerin brothers, you would never know that their early childhood was filled with abuse and sadness. “I don't think Brandon and I would have made it if it wasn't for our brother Joseph,” says 10-year-old Cody. “I was worried that foster care would eventually separate us and I would have been devastated. My brothers are everything to me,” says 18-year-old Joseph. In 2009, Brandon, Cody and Joseph were adopted by Janet Kerin, a successful chiropractor who decided to become a mother through adoption. “To see them become who they really are is my greatest joy,” says Janet. “I am very proud to call them my sons.” Today the Kerin brothers are excelling in academics and sports.

Shanie Evans (Los Angeles) “I would not be where I am today if it weren't for the people who nurtured the foundation of who I could become,” says Shanie Evans. Placed in foster care at age 12, she moved through more than a dozen placements and schools until she aged-out at 18 without a family. Desperate for a job, she applied at a theater company in hopes of finding work as a janitor. Fate had other plans when Evans was asked to sing and booked the lead role in the musical “The Wiz.” “Suddenly I had people who believed in me and it changed my life forever,” says Evans. “There are so many foster children waiting for a loving family, and it's not too late for them. You just need to have the heart to say yes, and that's where it all starts.”

Greenhow Family (Los Angeles) Gayle Greenhow had a full life and successful career, but she felt that something was missing. "I always knew that I wanted to be a mom and decided to adopt," says Gayle. In 2008, she received a call about an 8-year-old foster child named Haylee, who had been left behind and alone when her two younger siblings were adopted without her. “When I met my mom it was the first time that I truly felt like someone cared about me,” says Haylee. “She is the center of my life, and I always want her to know how much she is loved,” says Gayle. Today Haylee is a happy 11-year-old, active in Girl Scouts and cheerleading.

Children Waiting There are more than half a million children currently in foster care in the United States. This segment gives voice to these children by creating an intimate portrait of youth who need permanent loving homes.

The special is presented in association with the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption and the Children's Action Network. Wendy's International founder Dave Thomas, who was adopted, established the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption in 1992. It is dedicated to dramatically increasing the adoptions of children in the United States foster care system. Wendy's is a program sponsor.

The Children's Action Network was founded in 1990 by leaders in the entertainment industry to harness the power of the entertainment media on behalf of children. The special is a part of CAN's National Adoption Campaign to raise awareness of the joys of adopting and to find homes for the children who are waiting.

The 13th Annual A HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS WITH MARTINA McBRIDE is produced by Triage Entertainment and Goldsmith Entertainment, in association with the Children's Action Network and the Dave Thomas Foundation. Karen Mack, Stu Schreiberg, Stephen Kroopnick and Marilyn Seabury are the executive producers. Kelly Brock is the producer, Kimberly Steer is the supervising producer and Mary Donaldson is the coordinating producer. Michael Simon is directing the special.
